Propolis benefits and harms

Propolis is a sticky substance that bees collect from tree buds (poplar, alder, birch, etc.) and enrich them with their enzymes.

Its main function is to protect bees from fungal, viral and bacterial microorganisms. The protective properties of propolis extend to the person who uses it. With regular use, metabolism improves, the risk of atherosclerosis decreases, and the whole body rejuvenates.

Propolis contains more than 50 substances, the most useful organic compounds, flavonoids, terpenes, glycosides.

Contraindications for use

You can harm your body when taking bee propolis for two reasons – overdose and allergy to bee products. Symptoms may include rashes or hives, swelling, itching, dry mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Propolis should be taken with caution by those who suffer from liver and kidney diseases.

Allergy to propolis usually manifests itself within an hour or two. If during this time there are no unpleasant symptoms, then you can safely continue the course of treatment.

How to use

It all depends on the disease and the type of propolis. Natural can be consumed in an amount of 5 g per day.

In pharmacies, it is sold in various forms – tablets, infusions. Each medicine comes with instructions and dosage, and it should be adhered to.
