We select a variety of cucumbers for the greenhouse

The desire to crunch a fresh cucumber of our own production as soon as possible is understandable. With a greenhouse or greenhouse, early harvest dreams come true. It remains to choose the right varieties.

For early plantings in closed ground, only hybrids with increased shade tolerance are suitable. All of them are parthenocarpic (not requiring pollination), most of them have a bouquet type of flowering. With a lack of light, photophilous hybrids may stop growing.

The most shade-tolerant hybrids suitable for planting in a heated greenhouse as early as February are early hybrids. Matrix ΠΈ Cartoon.

Planting time in a β€œcold” greenhouse depends on the weather. In the Moscow region, seedlings of cucumbers are planted in closed ground on May 10-15, under temporary film shelters – after May 20-25. When disembarking early, it is better to take care of the possibility of emergency heating or additional shelter. So that necrosis does not appear on the leaves, it is better to sow low-light-resistant hybrids: F1 Bobryk, F1 Barcelona, F1 Shchedryk, F1 Quadrille, F1 Courage. They are resistant to major diseases, versatile in use, they can be planted not only in greenhouses and film shelters, but also in open ground. As a rule, two or three plants are placed in greenhouses, four or five per 1 sq. m.

F1 Courage – popular due to attractive fruits and ecological plasticity. Can be grown on loggias and balconies. Cucumbers 12–14 cm long are β€œready” on the 45th day.
