Corn flour benefits and harms

The benefits of cornmeal for humans are, above all, a radiant appearance and well-being. When consumed, excess fats are removed from the body, aging processes are slowed down. Therefore, it is often used in various diets. Vitamin E in the composition supports the health of the skin and hair, vitamins of group B are responsible for the easy transfer of stress, and vitamin A provides nutrition for the eyes.

It would be an exaggeration to talk about the obvious harm of corn flour, but there are categories of people for whom the consumption of such products may be undesirable. So, it is not recommended for people with poor appetite and underweight. Ulcers may experience discomfort from taking food, especially during an exacerbation of the disease. Also, we must not forget about individual intolerance.

Application

Cornmeal is used in a variety of industries, but cooking is of course the largest. In the national cuisines of many countries, there are dishes with its content: these are Italian polenta, Georgian mchadi, Moldavian mamalyga, Spanish-Mexican tortilla.

Together with wheat, corn occupies the honorable pedestal of the world’s best-selling grain crops. Most of the corn produced in the world is used for animal feed, which does not diminish its importance for the economies of many countries.

In addition to specific dishes that have a precise list of ingredients, corn flour can be used in place of the usual wheat flour. Bread and pastries with this addition are crisper and crumbly. It is also often added to pasta to enhance its beneficial properties and achieve a beautiful color in the product.

It is widely used in baby and diet food. Cornmeal porridge is introduced into the diet of children as a complementary food already in the first year of life. Older kids have come to love the delicious corn chips that compete well (and healthily!) With the potato chips they are accustomed to.

It is a frequent component in the manufacture of various sausages and in brewing, where it functions as a binder. In general, corn flour slows down the fermentation process, so that products containing corn flour retain their freshness for a long time.

It is also actively used in cosmetology. Masks with the addition of corn flour help to rejuvenate the skin. Scrubs containing this product have a mild exfoliating effect.

Fishing has become an unexpected field of application. Just like pea flour, it is a very attractive bait for freshwater fish. It is on its basis that the famous boilies for carp and bream are prepared.

In general, all over the world, there is a tendency towards an increase in the importance of corn in the economies of different countries, especially those that previously used it purely as a technical crop. It will not be surprising if soon corn flour replaces the more familiar, but less useful wheat flour in various dishes.
