The new head gardener asked for several people to be put at his disposal, whom he could teach the art of curly shearing of trees, and the Count, respecting the old man’s request, left for a long time on business in his city residence …

Returning after a while, he did not recognize his completely transformed garden. As he walked slowly along the path that led to the house, he noticed neatly trimmed boxwood bushes lined up in rows of hedges.
In a large flower bed, he noticed a familiar evergreen shrub, against the background of which beautiful flowers stood out in bright spots. Boxwood was also present on the nearest mixborders.
Crossing into the courtyard, the Count, in admiration, stopped at a high standard climbing rose, ringed with a low sheared box-tree. The garden was divided into sections, delimited by hedges of the same shrub.
A large green figure was visible in the distance, and the interested Count hurried there. He walked along the garden paths, on either side of which there were ridges and curbs with neat green fences.
Finally, the owner of the estate went out to a large open area of his garden, where an old boxwood tree grew, but now it looked very different. A sumptuous, cropped specimen loomed in the middle of the lawn.
Around the topiary figures of various characters, created by the hands of creative gardeners, are placed. There was a place for funny little men sitting on a bench, animals, birds and even a well-fed caterpillar. The Count smiled.
After enjoying the unprecedented spectacle, he went down the steps and went by the roundabout way to the mansion, looking around. To his surprise, the man discovered that boxwood dominates this shady part of the garden. This time, an amazing shrub was planted in large flowerpots and flower containers, organically integrated into the landscape design …
An agitated head gardener stood by the house and looked expectantly at the Count.
– Dear friend! – he began. – I’m just delighted with the wonderful garden that you created. I did not expect that boxwood can be so many-sided and beautiful.
– Honorable sir, be sure to come to the estate in winter. The snow-covered plants are incredibly beautiful under a silvery white blanket! – the Master said quietly, furtively wiping away the tears of joy that had come out.
