Hawthorn is a quite suitable crop for those summer residents who decided to delimit their plot with a hedge. This rather tall tree with thorny branches can grow in a short time, creating difficult thickets. And the powerful root system of the plant, even on poor soil, will feed it and will not let it die.

Trees and bushes of this decorative variety are distinguished by their bright crimson flowers. Umbrella-shaped inflorescences appear in May. After flowering, the fruits are spherical, large, with high grooves.

Douglas hawthorn is a rather powerful and spreading tree. It grows up to 12 meters in height. The dark brown bark and oblong glossy leaves give the hawthorn a decorative look. In the wild, these unassuming plants usually grow near large rivers in the forests of North America.
The representatives of the variety have almost no thorns. The inflorescences are composed of many fragrant white flowers that appear on the branches in May. Purple or black fruits ripen in late summer. Douglas hawthorn begins to bear fruit at the age of six. It has not yet been possible to propagate the plant by cuttings, so gardeners usually use the seed method.
