Pine nuts benefits and harms

Cedar (lat.Cedrus) is a tall evergreen coniferous tree of the pine family. The cedar is also often called the Sybor pine. It occurs naturally in the southern and eastern regions of the Mediterranean countries, at the foot of the Himalayas, in Siberia. The cedar can reach a height of 50 meters.

In addition to the most valuable wood, cedar trees are also valued for their fruits – cedar cones, full of small, tasty, and most importantly, unusually healthy nuts. Cedar is a very fruitful and prolific tree. Up to 12 kilograms of nuts can be harvested from one cedar.

It is not without reason that pine nuts are the most expensive of all types of nuts – their value is explained by their unique chemical composition. The main component is fatty oil – it is up to 65%. Also, the composition of the nut kernel contains easily digestible proteins containing many amino acids – namely nineteen, including tryptophan, arginine, serine, threonine, aspartic acid, alanine, glycine, glutamic acid, and others. Most of all these amino acids are essential or conditionally essential. And lysine, methionine and tryptophan, the content of which in pine nuts is very high, are generally the most deficient amino acids, which determine the biological value of any protein. Of the vitamins in pine nuts there are B3, B2, B1, A and E. The composition of minerals is represented by such elements as magnesium, manganese, boron, zinc, iron, calcium, iodine, phosphorus, potassium, vanadium, nickel. Of the carbohydrates, nut kernels contain natural sugars – fructose, glucose, sucrose, starch and fiber. Even walnut shells contain vitamins, amino acids and fiber, as well as essential oils and tannins.

The main value of pine nuts is a large amount of amino acids, which are necessary for the body during growth, recovery, for building muscle and connective tissue, bones. Pine nuts are essential for children, adolescents, pregnant women, athletes, people who have undergone serious illnesses and surgeries – they contribute to the growth and renewal of cells. Pine nuts are an easily digestible product, and their daily consumption provides the body’s daily need for amino acids and minerals.

Pine nuts have a beneficial effect on the mental and physical development of children. Their regular use in food has a strengthening and preventive effect, enhances the ability to conceive, increases potency, treats many endocrine diseases, strengthens the heart and blood vessels. Traditional healers for almost all diseases recommend taking alcoholic infusion on pine nuts; and claim that daily intake of a teaspoon of such infusion in the morning can forever save you from colds and other diseases.
