Lemon benefits and harms

The main vitamin in lemon is vitamin C, which is found in abundance in all citrus fruits. They are also rich in B vitamins, vitamin A, E, pp, beta-carotene. Of the mineral elements in lemons are found: potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sodium, chlorine, sulfur, iron, zinc, boron, manganese, fluorine, molybdenum. Sugars are found in the form of glucose, fructose, and sucrose. Lemons contain valuable substances – phytoncides, glycosides, bioflavonoids.

Application

A valuable essential oil is extracted from lemons, which is used not only in aromatherapy, but also for medical and cosmetic purposes. External preparations with its addition have wound healing and regenerating properties. Lemon oil helps against atherosclerosis and is beneficial for diseases of the lungs, upper and lower respiratory tract.

Many Indian yogis eat one fruit every day along with the peel – it is believed that they owe their longevity precisely to the beneficial properties of lemons. Juice helps to get rid of excess weight well – it speeds up metabolism and does not allow excess fat to accumulate. However, lemon juice is not recommended for people with high acidity – it can cause serious irritation of the stomach lining.

Lemon is not only a dessert fruit, but also many spices, hot sauces are made from it, and it is added to meat or fish. They make the famous Italian variety of liqueur – limoncello, as well as many other alcoholic beverages. Used for flavoring confectionery, tobacco, tea and coffee.
