Matzah benefits and harms

The Jewish dish matzah is one of the easiest dishes to prepare. And certainly the simplest among the loaves. Making matzo is not a complicated process. All that is required is dough and water. Neither salt, nor sourdough, nor yeast are not necessary, but are prohibited in the manufacture of this bread, at least – a festive one.

Jewish matzo recipe

How to make matzo? Housewives roll out flat cakes from the kneaded dough, make numerous holes in them with a fork and bake for 15-20 minutes. After cooking, the cake should be dry, crispy and brittle. Sometimes it is consumed in this form, replacing it with crackers or biscuits, sometimes it is wrapped in a wet towel before eating, after which it becomes softer. But traditionally it is dry crispy Jewish matzah that is served on the festive table.

Useful Properties

Considering that the composition of Jewish matzo does not contain any harmful or allergic components, it can be considered the most useful of all types of bread. The benefit of matzo is that made from any flour, it is a rich source of carbohydrates and allows you to quickly restore strength and satisfy hunger.

In addition, if matzo is made in its most ancient version, from coarse flour without sifting out the bran and preserving all parts of the grain, it will also supply the body with various vitamins and mineral components. Making matzo from premium flour deprives it of all these components – all useful substances are removed from it along with the grain shell.

But it is worth remembering that Jewish matzah is still bread. The harm of matzo is that when consumed abundantly, a large amount of carbohydrates enters the body. If they are not used for their intended purpose – not burned during intense physical activity – they will quickly turn into fat accumulations or begin to affect metabolic processes in the body. So if you are worried about being overweight, Jewish matzo bread won’t do you any good.

But in general, if you can’t imagine your diet without bread, but don’t want to stuff yourself with lush and empty loaves of white bread, then matzo will help you. With it, the portions of food will have the same volume, and there will be no feeling of overeating and various adverse phenomena in the digestive tract. So eat festive Jewish bread for your health!
