How does Ixia behave at home.

Ixia at home also continues to behave very whimsically. But still, flower growers prefer to start it in the form of a perennial with thin smooth leaves, a herbaceous tuber-onion plant. Ixia leaves can reach 50 cm. And fragrant and beautiful buds will delight you during the entire flowering period of Ixia.

Ixia in a pot.

Growing Ixia in a pot does not require a lot of money and effort. For this, mixtures of soddy soil, substrate, peat, coarse sand are used. In order for your flower to feel more comfortable, choose a pot for planting, the diameter of which will be about 15 cm.  You can take the pot outside in the summer, for example, on the balcony. Don’t do this during the winter. In order to provide humid air for Ixia, place the pot on a stand with wet expanded clay and humidify the air with a spray bottle. It is worth remembering that the plant should be transplanted into a new pot every 2-3 years, and into a new substrate.

When planting ixia at home, it should be remembered that this plant loves not only warmth and moisture, but also a large amount of light. Drain the soil well. Watch out for that. So that the water does not stagnate after watering. And most importantly, check that your flower is not blown by the wind, otherwise it will ruin it. It is better to plant Ixia in a pot in May, otherwise it may die in the cold. If you planted the plant earlier, then you should cover the plant and hide it from frost in a warm place. A good temperature for germinating the bulb is about +3, +8 degrees. The bulbs must be planted 15 cm apart and about 5 cm deep into the soil. After about  weeks after planting, start watering the plant.
