Cucumber time: we sow early-ripening bouquet-type hybrids for seedlings

The long-awaited spring has come! We will not have time to look back, as the gentle, warm summer will come, and with it the season of garden abundance will open. How wonderful it will be to go out early in the morning, look into the greenhouse, breathe in the unique smell of cucumber freshness and try the first young, impossibly crispy and sweet cucumber … We missed it so much during the winter!

However, even in the cold, our compatriot cannot do without cucumbers. Why deprive yourself of the pleasure of opening a cherished jar of elastic gherkins and pickles prepared with your own hands, put it on the table and enjoy their taste! If you already want such a variety of cucumbers, it’s up to you: stock up on seeds and start sowing, and we will advise you on how to make the right choice and prepare everything correctly.

Cucumbers for seedlings

Parthenocarpic hybrids are best grown through seedlings. Agricultural technology is simple, but a gardener who follows the recommendations will harvest a good harvest. Remember that cucumber loves warmth. At low temperatures (+12…+15Β°Π‘) it practically does not grow and may even die, so it should be planted when the soil warms up above +18…+20Β°Π‘. Best of all, this culture develops at an air temperature of + 25 … + 27 Β° Π‘ on warm soil (+ 22 … + 24 Β° Π‘). In the middle lane, the first early cucumbers are obtained from seedlings planted in greenhouses and greenhouses.Β

You can get a decent harvest of this crop only on a bed generously fertilized with organic matter with a light, well-structured soil with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction. At our experimental site, we always add sand, neutralized peat and biohumus (2-3 buckets per 1 mΒ²).

It is very important to properly water cucumbers. It is best to carry out water-charging irrigation, soaking the soil to the depth of the root layer. Do not be lazy to increase the humidity in the greenhouse by watering the aisles. Spray all plants in the morning and evening. Use for irrigation warm settled water that has accumulated solar heat during the day.Β

Proven hybrids

Today we want to offer you novelties of this season – hybrids for protected ground ‘Estet F1’, ‘Furo F1’, ‘Shosha F1’ and ‘Bingo F1’. We tested them on our experimental site last season and the results were excellent. These hybrids were “marked” by plentiful harvests, a bouquet type of ovary formation, early maturity and, which is very valuable, resistance to the main diseases of this crop.

Hybrids are very early: 38-45 days pass from germination to the ripening of the first fruit. These plants are parthenocarpic, meaning they don’t require pollinators, but they will produce higher yields. Therefore, plant annual flowers in the greenhouse, such as marigolds: they are beautiful, they repel aphids, and they attract beneficial insects.

Hybrid Furo F1

These wonderful hybrids are of a bouquet type, in each bosom a bunch of cucumbers of 2-4 fruits ripens. They ripen at the same time, so they are very convenient to preserve. There are surprisingly many fruits, especially ‘Bingo F1’! They can be massively collected while still very small (3-4 cm long) and harvested pickles. Cucumbers have an amazing taste; they are crispy and dense both fresh and pickled.

Hybrid Estet F1

Zelentsy do not outgrow for a long time, their usual length is 9-12 cm, and the seeds are almost invisible. The fruits are juicy, sweet, fragrant! We assure you: the yield will please you very much – ‘Estet F1’ and ‘Bingo F1’ will give 14-18 kg per 1 mΒ², and ‘Shosha F1’ and ‘Furo F1’ will give 20 kg/mΒ² and more!Β  Β Β

Dear gardeners, cucumber time is coming. It’s time to plant seedlings!
