Chicken breed Black and Red Star

The breed of chickens Red and Black Star belong to the egg direction of productivity. In addition to very high productivity, the bird is also very hardy, calm, and has a good character. It can be placed in the same coop with other breeds.

These feathered pets were bred in America by crossing several native individuals. Chicken Red Star was first bred in 1950, and Black Star a little later. The birds got their name due to the beautiful, appropriate color – red and black, or dark gray.

The annual egg production of laying hens is about 300 eggs with good, balanced feeding and quality feed. During the first few years, egg production remains at a fairly high level: 280, 250 eggs. The average egg weight of the Zvezda chicken breed is about 70 grams. The weight of adults reaches two and a half kilograms, roosters can gain up to three kilograms of live weight.

Chickens Black Star, as well as Red, adapt well and quickly to any weather conditions and conditions of detention. However, spacious walking areas and poultry houses are most acceptable for them, so that the bird can move freely, feel freedom, and walk. Uncomfortable, small chicken coops and closed enclosures can lead to cannibalism, pecking among the livestock, the bird can become aggressive.

In the diet of laying hens, it is imperative to include chalk and crushed egg shells. This will increase their egg production, making up for the lack of calcium in the body of feathered pets. In winter, during the cold period, chickens also need to be given vitamin feed.

Chickens Red and Black Star are birds that are calm in nature, but at the same time quite active. They rarely get colds. When hatching chickens of this breed from eggs, the poultry breeder can immediately determine their gender. Females have a red plumage, and males are exclusively black.

Feathered pets love to eat well and a lot, so their feeding should be slightly limited to avoid obesity.
