Black-and-White Australorps

This breed was selected in the middle of the 20th century in Russia. For its breeding, Plymouth Rocks with white plumage and black Australorps were “crossed”. The creation of a new breed took place by transfusing blood from Plymouth Rocks to Australorps.

Chickens of this breed belong to the meat and egg direction of productivity. The annual egg production of these layers is on average 220 eggs. The shell color is cream. The mass of the egg ranges from 54-56 grams. Adult roosters reach 2,5 kilograms of live weight, chickens – two kilograms. Sexual maturity in birds of this breed occurs at 160-162 days. The hatchability of chickens is about 80-85% with the safety of chicks up to 95%.

The main features of black-and-white Australorps are not subject to stress, have a calm temperament and increased resistance to various diseases, especially pullorosis. They are perfectly adapted to various conditions of detention, both group and individual – cellular. But most importantly, these feathered pets are prone to parthenogenesis, they are able to incubate eggs unfertilized by a rooster and breed.

The feathers of black-and-white Australorps are black with slight depigmentation. The tail is small, but lush and beautiful. The legs of the bird are not long, but strong, white in color with light pigmentation. Earrings, comb and lobes are red.

Like all other breeds, black-and-white Australorps love to take dust baths, they do not tolerate being kept in dirty, unkempt and untidy rooms.
