Ibravag wants to popularize the use of airplanes in Brazilian agriculture

Brazilian agriculture is undoubtedly one of the most expressive in the world and is responsible for providing food and raw materials for several countries. To give you an idea, the sector exported the equivalent of more than 96 billion dollars in 2019.

Faced with such production and extensive fields to be covered, Ibravag wants to popularize the use of airplanes in Brazilian agriculture. Learn more about the institute and its proposals below.

Brazilian agriculture

When it comes to Brazilian agriculture, some data are really impressive. An example of this is that the country is currently the world’s largest soybean exporter.

Furthermore, the area planted with crops in Brazil exceeds 75 million hectares, with grains representing 83% of this total.

The use of airplanes in Brazilian agriculture

The use of airplanes in agriculture is aimed at applying fertilizers, pesticides and seeds to crops. Considering the extension of crops and the number of plantations spread across the country, it is valid to say that it is an extremely fast and effective method. Many crops still become unfeasible without the use of agricultural planes.

And this is precisely the proposal of Ibravag – Instituto Brasileiro da Aviação Agrícola -, that is, to popularize the use of airplanes in Brazilian agriculture. According to the president of the entity, Julio Kämpf, it is necessary to increase the participation of aircraft on the national scene, especially in cotton and soybean crops, favorable to leverage the agricultural aviation business.

By the way, the location of Ibravag is no coincidence. Rio Grande do Sul is the state that most uses aerial spraying in its crops, mainly rice. It is also one of the states with the highest concentration of agricultural aviation companies in the country.

Brazilian fleet

If it depends on the Brazilian fleet of agricultural planes, Ibravag’s proposal could be a good deal for the sector. This is because, according to a survey by the National Union of Agricultural Aviation Companies (SINDAG), the number of agricultural planes in the country grew by more than 50% in a ten-year period.

Thus, the Brazilian fleet is the second largest in the world, behind only the United States, with more than 2 registered aircraft, a number that is certainly positive for agriculture.

O Ibravag

Ibravag was created on May 22, 2018 and is located in the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The organization emerged during a meeting of SINDAG.

Ibravag was born amid the need to inform society about the relevance of aviation in agriculture. In addition, the institute has other objectives, such as the gathering and articulation of the entire sector, the promotion of meetings, congresses and studies in partnership with universities and the defense of agricultural aviation in bills.

Agricultural Aviation Magazine

With the purpose of informing professionals in the field of agricultural aviation and those interested in the subject, Ibravag launched the Aviação Agrícola magazine, a quarterly publication with national coverage.

The institute also promotes several courses on the regulation of the use of agricultural planes, as well as offering instructions on the application of the products. The aim is to work on the issue among pilots and improve education on the subject.
