How to increase the yield of potatoes, and collect 20 buckets from 40 bushes!

The higher the “yield” in the variety of potatoes chosen for planting is, the more satisfying the winter will be for a person who loves to eat healthy, nitrate-free vegetables and fruits with berries grown with his own hands.

It may seem fantastic, but from one seed tuber planted in spring, you can “take” up to 4 full buckets of large, healthy, frost-resistant potatoes in early autumn.

Tips for growing a large crop of potatoes

Firstly, you should decide on the specific agrotechnical methods, which are different for each type of soil.

  1. If the soil is damp, then the ridges should be high.
  2. If the soil is dry, then the beds should be low.
  3. If the soil is rich in black soil, then you should definitely use a tool such as amofoska. Add 3 g per bush to the prepared hole.
  4. Be sure to add some sand to the ridges.

Second, prepare potato seed for planting.

  1. Cut each seed potato so that there are at least 3 eyes on the planting piece.
  2. Add 10 g of Bordeaux mixture, 35 g of ash, 200 g of boric acid and 20 g of potassium permanganate to a bucket with 15 liters of water (not cold and not boiled). The water in the bucket should turn pink. A mixture of bordeaux and ash can be bought at a specialized center for a garden-garden, and boric acid with potassium permanganate can be purchased at the most ordinary pharmacy. These funds are quite inexpensive.
  3. Soak all prepared potatoes for planting in the prepared solution for half an hour. Such actions will improve the health of the potatoes, and protect the crop from the formation of blackness and holes in the tubers.
  4. After being in the solution, dry the potatoes a little, you can use a paper towel and try not to damage the eyes.

Thirdly, during the time that the seeds are in solution and dried, prepare holes in the beds for planting.

Fourthly, in each hole, put one piece of potato so that its eyes are at the top. Sprinkle.

Fifthly, when the first tops grow up to 15 cm, it must be pushed apart and tilted in all directions and covered with earth in a circle.

Sixth, as soon as the tops grow up again, repeat the steps from the previous paragraph

Seventh, digging up potatoes in autumn should not be done with a shovel, but with wide pitchforks, digging in a bush in a circle (from all sides). The yield of each bush will be at least 20 kg and there will be no small tubers.

Eighth, after the color and the first hilling of the potato bush, you can dig in it, starting from the first days of June. During this time, you can eat your grown potatoes all summer. It turns out that for each bush there are 6 “calls” before the final digging for the harvest “for the winter”.

Ninth, the potatoes planted in this way do not require frequent watering. Enough one or two times in 10 days, if there is no rain.

Tenthly, you need to plant potatoes according to varieties, dividing them with plantings of beans, peas, beans.

Eleventh, the soil should be loosened only with a hoe. In this case, there will be no rot, no ticks, no flea beetles, or other harmful vermin.

Potatoes are especially good and the yield is high in varieties:

  • “Karagandinka” (oblong tuber with pinkish eyes),
  • early variety “Rainbow-Drunkard-Bora” (ovals with red eyes),
  • “Nevskaya” (white, large),
  • “Slav”,
  • “Ogonyok.”
