CUCUMBERS ON FILM

We know that weeds must always be removed. But there is an amazing way to grow cucumbers without weeding. Moreover, doubly amazing, because we will grow them not under the film, but ON the film! And at the same time to have a harvest of young cucumbers that is remarkable in quantity and quality.

Cucumbers on film

Try this cucumber growing option. It is simple but productive.

In the garden, every 0,5 m, they dig holes 30-35 cm deep, fill them with manure, and sprinkle soil on top. 5-6 seeds are sown in a prepared hole around the circumference. After abundant watering, a plastic film is spread directly on the garden bed, which is pressed along the edges with wooden bars, bricks, etc. Above each hole in the film, small (10-15 cm long) cruciform incisions-vents are made.

As a result, under the film, good conditions are created for seed germination โ€“ high air temperature and humidity.

After a certain time, seedlings of cucumbers will appear. While young plants develop in the hole, the time of spring frosts will pass.

At the same time, 4 largest plants should be left in each hole and directed in different directions. You should also remove weeds from the hole, which can go free. The rest of the weeds that grow under the film should not be removed in any case โ€“ this is the meaning of this method.

When the plant has 4-5 leaves, it is necessary to make a cruciform cut in the film over the hole so that the plant can come out of its hiding place.

When the seedlings of cucumbers begin to touch the leaves of the film, the cuts in the film must be expanded.

Some time after sowing cucumbers, weeds growing under the film will raise it above the ground, as it will become crowded and they will interfere with each other, and the film will not allow to straighten up. And most importantly, they breathe under the film and warm the plants with their warmth, which are completely freely located on top of the film. The soil under the plants does not compact at all. The need for weeding and loosening disappears, the need for watering is sharply reduced, because the film retains moisture well.

The value of this growing method lies in the fact that the root system of cucumbers is constantly warm and favorable conditions are created for the plants. In the future, the entire aerial part of the plant will be located on the film and bear fruit abundantly. The film is not removed from the beds until the end of the season. Plants are periodically watered and fed.

Since the plants are located on the film and have less contact with the soil than with traditional technology, the likelihood of their disease and the need to treat plants with various chemical preparations is significantly reduced. And it is pleasant to collect such cucumbers: they are clean and clearly visible.
