The leaf method is more troublesome, since the planting material often rots, the process of root formation, and the appearance of children is long. Varieties with variegated leaves, when propagated by a leaf plate, lose their multicolored color.

The seed propagation technique is the most difficult and time-consuming.

The basic principles of multiplying the money tree

1. Immediately before rooting, the stalk or leaf must be dried – to stand for a day in the open air.
2. You can root the planting material in water with the addition of activated carbon or a substrate.
3. After the roots appear, young plants are planted in small flowerpots – no more than 7 cm in diameter.
4. The universal composition of the substrate for cuttings and leaves: in equal proportions mix leafy, turfy soil and sand.
5. Temperature range – from +16 to +18 degrees.
6. Watering – once a day.

Note: if you choose the right time for the propagation of the jellyfish by cuttings, you can wait for flowering. Crassula spatulata (Crassula spatulata) blooms profusely after planting cuttings in March-April. Crassula Schmidt (crassula schmidtii) will bloom if cuttings are carried out in March, with later propagation of the plant, it does not bloom. Watering rules

Plant feeding

Top dressing is carried out with fertilizers for succulents and cacti.

If such fertilizers are not possible to purchase, use liquid formulations for decorative leafy indoor plants. But the concentration is made 2 times less than indicated in the instructions for this product.

Liquid formulations are the easiest to use. They are diluted with water and the plant is watered. But this should be done only after the main watering, when the ground is well moistened. This is done so as not to damage the roots of the plant with a large amount of fertilizer.

Lighting and temperature

The fat woman is extremely rare. The most common fungal diseases of this type are:

• Fungal infection of the leaves.

These infections develop rapidly and spread in humid environments. A plant can only get sick with excessive soil moisture and high air humidity.

It is best to use an earthenware pot or ceramic bowl, but a plastic bowl is also acceptable. A prerequisite is that the flower pot must have drainage holes.

The size of the pot is also important: it must be small, otherwise the young shoot or cuttings will actively develop roots to the detriment of the stem and crown. As a result of their weakening, the fat woman will not grow branched, or the crown will grow in one direction.

The best option is to use a low but wide container, the depth of which should be about 10 cm and the diameter – 20 cm. Over time, the root system will take up the entire pot, and then the flower will need to be transplanted into a larger pot.

The preparation of the required soil is also important. Nutritious garden soil is not suitable for a money tree. You can use special prepared soil, but it is also possible to prepare it yourself.

Soil for crassula is prepared from the following components: leaf soil, peat and sand (preferably large) – 1 part each, sod soil – 3 parts and mineral fertilizers – 1 g per liter of soil. Ready complex mineral fertilizers can be replaced with ash or crushed coal.

Drainage (expanded clay or small stones) is placed at the bottom of the pot, and then the pot is filled with the prepared mixture.

How to grow a thick trunk money tree

How to properly grow a fat woman with a thick trunk? It takes time, skill and knowledge. You can only grow a beautiful fat woman alone. You cannot plant 2 or 3 cuttings in a pot at once. They will lack nutrients, they will shade each other and stretch out. Under these conditions, there can be no question of any thick trunk.

In order for the trunk of the fat woman to become thicker, it must be planted in a small pot.

When transplanting from the roots to the walls of the pot, there should be no more than 1 cm. In this case, the root system quickly grows to the walls and begins to cover the earthen ball without growing much. At the same time, the plant begins to grow the trunk and shoots.

You can grow a beautiful money tree only in bright diffused light.

Lack of light will affect the shape of the crown and the thickness of the trunk. Even during the dormant period, the tree must be placed in the most illuminated place. If there is a lack of lighting in winter, phytolamps should be used.

How big does a money tree grow? Crassulae in enclosed spaces reach impressive sizes. Often they grow up to 1,5 m in height, and the crown diameter is up to 2 m.

How to plant a scion correctly

It is necessary to prepare for the breeding of the fat woman in advance. To do this, you should not only acquire planting material, but also purchase suitable pots and soil. To root the fat woman, you need to choose small pots with a diameter of 7 – 8 cm, but at the same time you need to immediately purchase containers of a larger diameter for subsequent transplantation.

At the bottom of the pots for planting seedlings, you need to place a good drainage, consisting of fine expanded clay. It is necessary to make drain holes in the bottom of the containers, since the fat woman does not tolerate stagnant water.

You cannot plant small sprouts in large pots, as in this case, the plants will begin to develop a powerful root system to the detriment of the growth of the aerial part.

Such plants will be very weak, elongated and ugly. Young seedlings should be transplanted into pots of the next size when the crown diameter exceeds the diameter of the container. In the future, the transplant is carried out once a year.

The fat woman reproduces vegetatively and by sowing seeds. For reproduction, such vegetative methods are used: leaf rooting and cuttings.

Seeds

In order to grow a fat woman from seeds, it will take a long time. This is one of the reasons it is not popular in room culture. And it is also difficult to get the seeds of a money tree, since it blooms very rarely in apartment conditions. But if you buy seeds in a garden center or online store, then you can try.

For sowing, use low containers filled with a moistened soil mixture for fat women.

The seeds are sown on the soil surface and pressed lightly into the surface. You can pour a very thin layer of coarse sand on top. Then the container is covered with glass and the seeds are germinated at a temperature of 18-25 ° C. Seedlings dive twice. First, a month after germination, and then, when the sprouts reach a height of 5 cm. The second time they dive into separate pots.

Rooting the leaf

Crassula leaves take root very quickly – from 1 to 2 weeks. Sometimes you can find a leaf with already formed aerial roots. But a young plant begins to grow from a baby – an escape from the base of the leaf.

Such a shoot can only grow in 1-2 months.

For rooting, you will need a container with moistened soil, into which the leaves are dropped with the base down. The temperature for rooting should be the same as for germinating the seeds. The soil in the container is periodically moistened, the container is not covered. After the children appear on the leaves, they can be transplanted into separate pots. They are looked after as if they were mature trees. On one sheet there can be 2-3 children, of which fat women will then form.

Cuttings

Cuttings are cut from a large, overgrown specimen. It is easier to grow a tree from apical cuttings at least 10 cm long, but stem cuttings from the middle of the shoot can also take root. After cutting, the cutting of the tree must be dried within 3-4 hours.

If the cuttings are rooted in the ground, then they are immediately dropped into separate pots. They are placed in partial shade, the soil is periodically moistened.

If the cuttings have begun to grow, then they have taken root. If the cuttings are rooted in water, they are placed in a container of boiled water at room temperature and kept there until the roots form.

As soon as the cutting has taken root at least 5 cm long, it is planted in a separate pot and looked after like an adult fat woman. For the first month, it is advisable to keep the young plant in partial shade.

Leaves

1. The choice of planting material. The bottom sheet will do, healthy, without damage or traces of rot. It needs to be cut off and left in the fresh air for a day.

2. Rooting of leaves. To root the leaf in water, you need a flat container or a regular vial. The leaf is placed with the cut edge in a root stimulator solution. The leaf plate should be immersed in a 0,5 cm container. The leaves are placed in a bright room, but protected from direct sunlight. As soon as the first roots appear, young plants are transplanted first into a shallow bowl, and then into a flowerpot with a diameter of no more than 7 cm.

You can root the money tree in the soil; this will require a mixture of peat and sand or moistened moss. I fill a bowl with this base, pour it over with water with the addition of a root system formation stimulator. The leaf is immersed in the potting mix or moss by a third. It is necessary to water the plant very carefully – excess moisture will provoke decay processes.

At first, the leaf is grown in greenhouse conditions – under a glass or plastic bottle. Two or three times a day the money tree is ventilated, the mini-greenhouse is opened for a few minutes. The young plant should be sprayed with warm water. If necessary, the sheet is fixed to the support.
