Building your soil fertility – A practical guide

Speak, my people! All in peace?! My name is Bernardo I’m new here at MF Magazine, but I’ll start by daring and making a mess in your heads!

We are going to put together a series of simple and cohesive articles to help, those who want to be helped, to actually and permanently build the fertility of the soil they explore.

The objective here is to make a constructive process but that within a few years it will become maintenance and not an investment that makes your hair fall out.

Soil fertilization cost

Let’s get down to business. The cost of fertilization of Brazilian crops eats around 30 to 40% of the total cost of practically any crop, some even more. Knowing this, we have to “start from the beginning” and talk about the proper management of fertilizer sources and how they should be applied.

WRONG!!!!! My dear ones, to talk about fertilizer we have to talk first about the greatest discovery of the modern era of all times for the cerrado and any other type of acidic soil: the blessed liming!

Soil liming to increase fertility
Liming is one of the essential products to correct the soil and improve its fertility.

The application of correctives in acidic soils is such a magical thing that many producers do not even doubt their power (it contains irony).

Liming is the only time we apply a product with one purpose and get another. But, that’s for our next article in the series that will address soil correction.

That said, let’s go through liming, gypsum, which I already advance, does not correct soil acidity. More information in the next chapters, use and management of different fertilizers.

For example: nitrogen, potassium, phosphate, macronutrients, foliar fertilization, inoculation and everything else that concerns the sphere of fertilization, soil fertility and plant nutrition in Brazilian crops.

Soil fertility ensures higher productivity

We have an extremely rich and large country. But even so, sometimes the cost of land makes it impossible to increase ownership.

So, we will have and want to increase productivity, a keyword for modern and competitive agriculture in which profit margins are increasingly narrow.

Agricultural property expansion
The producer does not always have the resources to increase his property. The way out is to increase productivity through soil correction.

Let’s stop being amateurs and let’s go to the latent professionalism that is ingrained in our veins.

Well, in short, that’s it. We will address several nuances in several articles that are simple to understand and easy to put into practice, even a cake recipe and from then on, each one will adapt to your reality in the best possible way.

We stand firm, always!

Strong hug!
