Smallpox of sheep and goats is a highly contagious, rapidly transmitted disease, accompanied by fever, papular-pustular rashes on the skin and mucous membranes. It affects animals of any age, in 50% of cases it ends in death. To prevent the spread of the disease, immunization of small livestock from the age of three months is indicated.

Surviving animals acquire stable immunity to this virus for 2 years. As a specific prophylaxis, a cultural virus-vaccine of an attenuated NISHI strain (smallpox virus) is used, which provides protection to vaccinated goats and sheep for 12 months.

The drug is made on the basis of the culture fluid of transplanted goat DNA cells infected with the NISHI strain. As additional elements, the composition contains 10% sucrose and 2% edible gelatin.

An immune response to a single injection of the vaccine in small livestock appears after 5 days. The drug is harmless, has no medicinal properties

Indications for use

The purpose of the vaccine is to prevent smallpox and lumpy skin disease in healthy sheep, goats and cattle. Immunization is carried out from the age of 3 months. Revaccination is organized every 12 months.

In disadvantaged areas and farms of the threatened zone, vaccinations are carried out for all age groups of livestock, regardless of the amount of time that has passed since the last immunization. Lambs up to 6 months old. vaccinated twice, with an interval of 2 weeks. Revaccination of young animals is carried out after 6-7 months, adults – 1 year.

Instructions for use:

  1. Cool saline (sodium chloride) 0,9% concentration to +4°C.
  2. In a vial with a dry powder vaccine, designed for 50 inoculation doses, inject 2 cm³ of sodium chloride with a syringe, 100 cm³ for 4 doses. Shake the container until the drug is completely suspended.
  3. Combine the resulting suspension with 48 cm50 of saline (for 96 doses) or 100 cmXNUMX (for XNUMX doses).
  4. Inject with a syringe 1 cm³ of the finished vaccine into a hairless area of ​​uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe animal’s dermis (armpit or undertail region).

  • females in the last stage of pregnancy.

Side effects with the introduction of the drug were not detected. When the dosages are exceeded, outbreaks of smallpox were not detected.

When using, the following precautions must be observed:

  2. Clean hands with ethyl alcohol.
  3. Work with sterile gloves.
  4. Introduce the suspension into a hairless area of ​​​​the skin, after treating it with alcohol.

  6. If the vaccine was accidentally administered subcutaneously to a farm worker, you should immediately wipe the area with ethyl alcohol, go to the hospital and inform the doctor about the incident.
