The second type is called forage watermelon, which has a whitish and consistent pulp, with a high dry matter content. They have low levels of sucrose, that is, they are not very sugary.

They are usually used to feed animals, precisely because their taste is not very popular with people.

Finally, there are the watermelons of more sugary pulp, which can have three different colors: red, orange and yellow. They are the most popular in the world and they also have a lot of water in their composition. It is precisely about them that we will discuss next.

Fruits with yellow and red pulp are already found this way, competing strongly in terms of flavor and nutrition, when compared to traditional watermelons.

yellow flesh watermelon

Known as Japanese or kodama, they are smaller than their more popular “relative”, making them easy to transport. Its consumption is indicated mainly when it comes to a family of smaller number of people.

Variety of yellow watermelon
Yellow watermelon is one of the most popular types because it is very sweet and has few seeds.

It is also rich in beta-carotene, which will help with bone formation, vision and growth and strength. It is ideal for children, young people and the elderly because it has a high content of natural sugar and few seeds.

white flesh watermelon

This species came to Brazil in the colonial period. Among the types of watermelon, it is the least popular because it is low in sugar, despite being rich in minerals. Even so, it can be used to make jam or candy.
