It is not uncommon for poultry farmers to notice a blackening of the crest in them. This phenomenon indicates the development of a disease in a bird. However, it is impossible to make a definite answer what kind of disease it is.

The best solution for darkening the crest of a rooster is to seek advice and help from a specialist – a veterinarian. Also, the owner of the bird can try to independently determine the diagnosis by observing the feathered pet for several days.

It is possible that the rooster’s comb turned black as a result of vitamin deficiency, or it could be a much more serious illness, such as bird flu. It is possible that the blackening of the crest is evidence of an infectious contagious disease – Pasteurellosis.

Treatment of a rooster should begin immediately after establishing the cause of the darkening of the crest. And it is advisable to consult a veterinarian before buying and giving the bird medications. Perhaps he will advise something more effective and effective. It is also necessary to understand that a sick feathered pet must immediately be excluded from the main herd and placed until complete recovery in another room in order to avoid infecting other birds.
