The conquest of Europe by eggplant began in the 16th century. And since then it has undergone many changes. Breeders have tried and are trying, increasing eggplant in size, reducing its ripening time. Every year we are offered more and more of its varieties.

Eggplant (Solanum melongena)
Variety “Bull forehead”ย โ variety of long ripening period and abundant fruitingย (period to technical maturity 140-150 days), Suitable for cultivation in open ground and greenhouses. The plant is low, bushy. The fruits are large, wide, pear-shaped, black-purple, 16-19 cm long, weighing up to 1 kg. The pulp is dense, white, without bitterness. The plant bears fruit well even in adverse conditions.
Variety “Diamond”ย โ medium maturity variety. The period from planting to harvest is 109-149 days. The plant is compact, of medium height – 45-56 cm. The fruit is cylindrical, 14-17 cm long, 3-6 cm in diameter. The color of the fruit in technical ripeness is dark purple, in biological ripeness it is brown-brown. The surface is glossy. Fruit weight 100-164 g, the flesh is green, dense, without bitterness. Differs in early and friendly branching.
Variety “Black handsome”ย โ long term variety, term to technical maturity 135-150 days, increased productivity. The fruits are large, wide, pear-shaped, black-purple, weighing 700-900 g. The pulp is dense, white, without bitterness. The plant bears fruit well even in adverse conditions.
Variety “Ping-Pong”ย โ medium maturity variety (110-115 days from sowing to fruit set), undersized (60-70 cm), high-yielding hybrid, intended for cultivation in film greenhouses and open ground. The plant forms a large number of ovaries, and when the fruit ripens, it looks very decorative. The fruits resemble balls, 5-6 cm long, 4-6 cm in diameter. Forms many small fruits weighing 50-70 g. Coloring white, the surface is matte. Pulp of average density, greenish-white, with spicy taste.

Variety “Dragon”ย โ early maturing variety (period from planting to harvest 100-120 days). It is intended for cultivation in greenhouses and on beds of an open ground. Tall bush 70-100 cm. Pear-shaped fruit. The coloration is dark purple. Weight 200-300 g. Length 17-21 cm. Diameter 8-9 cm. Disease resistant.
Variety “Carlson”ย โ early grade maturation and abundant fruiting (term to technical maturity – 72-75 days). It is intended for cultivation in greenhouses and under a film shelter. The plant is low 60-65 cm. The fruits are round, 15 cm in diameter, dark purple, with a glossy surface, weighing 250-350 g. The pulp is dense, yellowish-white, without bitterness.
