Description of the variety, cultivation and care

Savoy cabbage is a two-year-old plant that forms a short or medium stem in the first year of its life. In addition to cabbages, there are linden forms with a weak folding of the upper inflorescences into a bunch. In the second year of life, a short or medium-sized stem appears. Inflorescences are yellow. In particular, the varieties are very beautiful:

  1. Gold Early.
  2. Twirl 1340.

A big disadvantage for summer residents is the size of the stumps. Surprisingly, in the same places, white cabbage yields more than Savoy cabbage. Moreover, it does not differ in storage time and is not intended for workpieces.

At the time of salting or souring, its inflorescences are transformed into an unpleasant gruel – they do not have the necessary rigidity and crunchiness. But the plant has many benefits. For Russian summer residents, this is frost resistance.

Savoy cabbage can be cultivated not only in the Caucasus, where the climate is maximally tropical, but also in most of the European area of โ€‹โ€‹Russia, the Urals, Siberia. Sprouts are able to survive a temperature drop of up to -4 degrees, adult seedlings up to -8 degrees, and heads of cabbage ripen at -15 degrees.

They can be left on the ground until the end of the earth, and then eat, first digging out from under the snow. The taste and healthiness of such forks does not get worse. On the contrary, the inflorescences become softer, crisp, sweeter.

Savoy cabbage has a strong immune system and brilliantly copes with many fungal pathologies. Pests pay less attention to this variety. The leaves of the variety are rarely gnawed.

The variety tolerates dry weather easily, but it needs irrigation. It is characterized by a large evaporation area. It makes high demands on the quality of the land, gets along well even in heavy, peaty or clayey soil.

Cobs are created even when sown in a salty substrate. In the 17th century in Holland, summer residents combined business with pleasure, growing a high-quality crop and at the same time fertilizing the soil.

Useful qualities and contraindications
