Coop

This is the main location of the hens, and therefore it must be fully adapted to their needs. It must be installed in a place where it will not be flooded. The chicken coop should be located in a dry, wind-sheltered area. It can be placed on a small hill so that when it rains, the water drains.

Also, the building should be in the shade, because the breed does not tolerate heat well.

The size of their housing depends on the number of chickens. But the height should be approximately 2 meters, and the area will need to be calculated, but it must be borne in mind that one animal needs 1 square. m. Also, a plot should be adjacent to the house so that the chickens can take a walk. Necessarily with access to the street, this requires a small opening. It must be at least 1 meter high.

In winter, additional heaters for the chicken coop will not be needed, because they feel great during this period. The main thing is to build a room where there will be thickened walls and a warm floor. And due to the fact that they do not feel well in hot weather, it is necessary to make sure that at this time the temperature is not higher than 25 degrees. Also, there should be a litter about 15 cm thick. It is allowed to use hay, grass, sawdust and sand for it.

The house must be illuminated with a lamp and windows. It is necessary to increase daylight hours in winter, as this affects egg laying. There must be perches and nests there. Their number depends on the chickens, but each animal needs at least 40 cm of space. But it is not necessary that each bird has one nest, because they use them alternately.

You can install them in levels or around the perimeter. The diameter of the perch should be approximately the size of a chicken foot. The most important thing is to make this place calm, comfortable and darkened. If you plan to keep the chicks in a shared coop after hatching, then additional heating will be needed. But do not forget that adults may be too hot. Therefore, at first it is worth keeping them separately.

Feeders, drinkers and boxes of ash should also be located in the house. Pay attention that there are no drafts, mold, moisture in the room, and that the air is fresh. Therefore, hoods can be installed there. And most importantly – it’s clean in the house. It just needs to be cleaned, cleaned of dirt, food debris and waste products. The bedding should be changed as it gets dirty.

Drinking bowls and feeders should be constantly washed and treated with disinfectants.

In winter, you can do without greenery, but it can be replaced with germinated cereals. They will have a good effect on the health of birds. If there is not enough calcium, then we add chalk, bone or fish meal to the food. Their chickens eat with joy. To support the work of the digestive system, it is necessary to give crushed eggshells or bones. This helps the products to digest well. As soon as the chickens have eaten, all excess must be removed, as they will overeat and gain unnecessary fat, which negatively affects health.

Place for walking

This place is called the walking yard, and it must be. There, birds walk in the air, eat and, of course, communicate. It should be located in a dry place so that water cannot enter under any circumstances and that there are no drafts. Also there should be a shade, but you should not place it under a tree, there may be parasites. It will be better if the shadow is from any structure.

A shady spot will help to avoid overheating of the earth in hot weather.

Gilyan Kura description of the breed, advantages and disadvantages, advice on keeping

Since one chicken needs at least 1 square. meter of space, the yard must be made spacious. It is also necessary to have feeders, drinkers and ash baths there. This will allow animals to be not only in the house, but also on the street. Do not forget that these birds are large and curious, in any case they will try to get over the fence to find out what is there. And in connection with this, the fence must be made high.

Diseases

Gilyan chickens have very strong immunity. And if the animal is sick, it is only because of improper maintenance or diet. If all the rules are not followed, infectious or parasitic diseases may appear. If the diet of birds is not properly composed, this can lead to beriberi.

If you want to protect animals from infections, then you definitely need to vaccinate them.

Breeding

This process of the Gilan breed of chickens in cages is an egg direction. This method saves space well, especially when it is not so large. But it does not mean walking birds and keeping a rooster. This breed cannot be called exclusively egg. These chickens are currently bred to increase the population. And so the cages are not suitable for keeping. Such cultivation is possible only if there is no need for fertilized eggs. This option is only suitable for laying hens to receive egg products.

Gilyan Kura description of the breed, advantages and disadvantages, advice on keeping

Gilan chickens belong to the meat and egg breed, and therefore they should gain weight perfectly, but this cannot be done if they are kept in a cage. In this case, they will gain only fat, and it is very harmful to them. This breed of chickens tolerates hot weather much worse than cold.

In the heat, they feel bad. In this regard, you should not breed them at this time.
