Description of chickens silver campin

The silver Campin chicken breed is mainly popular with poultry farmers who like to breed decorative feathered pets in their backyard. However, initially these birds were used as productive egg hens. Currently, some household owners acquire this breed also for egg production.

Campin chickens were bred in the northeast of Belgium. But how they appeared, and what breeds were crossed to create them, is not exactly known. Some suggest that the Egyptian Fayumi became the β€œprogenitors” of these birds, others believe that they were East Frisian gulls, and others are sure that the Brakel breed is the ancestors of the Campin chickens.

Despite the fact that some poultry farmers choose these feathered pets to receive eggs, their annual egg production is about 140 eggs. Egg weight ranges from 55-60 grams. Adult individuals gain up to two kilograms of live weight, roosters grow up to two and a half kilograms.

Silver campin chickens are poultry that are absolutely unpretentious in feeding, quickly get used to any conditions of detention. Puberty in feathered pets of this breed occurs at the age of four months. Their main advantage is a beautiful, unusual appearance. Silvery campin chickens will become a real decoration of the yard. They are also quite active, it is difficult for them to stay in one place for a long time, so the cellular content is not a very acceptable option for such individuals.

But at the same time, these feathered pets do not get along well with other breeds of chickens, they are quite conflicting and have a peculiar character. Campin laying hens have a completely undeveloped incubation instinct. They just can’t sit on the nest for that long and wait for the chicks to hatch. They are hindered by their hyperactivity.

To keep such a bird, you need quite a lot of space, not only in the chicken coop, but also on the paddock. In feeding, feathered pets are completely unpretentious. They eat everything: grain, wet mash, they are very fond of pasture: insects, grass, worms, and they eat it with pleasure. These chickens need to be constantly provided with clean water and complementary foods, which can be used as crushed eggshells.

The Campinian breed of chickens can fly quite high, so you should take care of a high fence in advance.
