Decorative chickens

In addition to the breeds of chickens that are used to perform their main functions, namely, high productivity, many poultry farmers are increasingly opting for feathered pets, whose main task is decorative. Such birds are used primarily to decorate the yard, and their productivity, whether it is high or not, is already a secondary indicator.

Ornamental chickens are individuals that have an attractive appearance: bright plumage, crest, fluffy plumage on their legs, etc., and have useful properties that are unique to them. These include, first of all, numerous dwarf feathered pets: Bentham, Seabright, Calico, Phoenix, Cochinchin, Araucan, Silk and many others. In most decorative dwarf chickens, the live weight does not even reach one kilogram. Their annual egg production ranges from 70 to 160 eggs – it all depends on the breed. The weight of one egg from a dwarf bird averages 45 grams.

Very beautiful is the Silk breed of chickens. Its main distinguishing feature is the feather, which is more like fluff or rabbit fur. Plumage color can be white, black, blue and wild.

Adult dwarf chickens “Phoenix” weigh only six hundred to seven hundred grams, and roosters about nine hundred grams. They have a rather unusual plumage, as well as a very lively character. Plumage color can be white, orange, wild, silver and golden neck. During the year, these feathered pets are able to lay only about sixty eggs, the average weight of which is 25 grams.

In addition to dwarf, there are other decorative chickens: Dutch white-crested, Breda, Curly, Krevker, Millfler, Ushanka Lokhmonogaya and many others. Most decorative chicken breeds have very tasty, incredibly juicy meat.
