Fans of unusual breeds of chickens cannot but be attracted by feathered pets that were bred in Malaysia and were called Malaysian Serama. To create them, local wild birds and Japanese dwarf breeds of chickens were crossed. The Malaysian Serama is a fairly young breed. They were bred only about 20 years ago, and so far they are not very common. Their main feature is their very small size. There is no smaller breed of chickens in the world.

For a year, from the Malaysian Serama chicken breed, you can get up to 60 eggs, weighing up to 30 grams – a little more than a quail egg. Laying hens can gain up to three hundred grams of live weight, while roosters reach a weight of 650 grams. However, for true connoisseurs of chickens of unusual breeds, these birds should be as small as possible.

The main goal of purchasing Malaysian Serama chickens is not to obtain high productivity indicators, but their decorative effect. A more interesting and unusual decoration of the courtyard can hardly be found. However, the color of plumage in birds can be completely different.

Malaysian Serama are chickens that need certain conditions of detention. They are heat-loving birds that do not tolerate cold and drafts, they are often called capricious and pampered feathered pets.

Due to their small size, poultry farmers do not have to worry about the placement of feathered pets, they feel great in the entrances, like parrots or canaries. The main feature of these chickens is that they are well, confidently kept on the water. They reach puberty at the age of six months, sometimes later – seven, eight, or even nine months.

Chicken breed Malaysian Serama have a well-developed maternal instinct. However, after hatching, the chicks can be kept under the hen for only a week, then it is necessary to separate them, otherwise the hen will simply peck her offspring. The maximum number of eggs hatched by a mother hen is seven.

When raising the offspring of Malaysian Serama chickens, the poultry farmer needs to constantly monitor the purity of the water in the drinkers. Chicks are very demanding on drinking water, as well as on food, which must be very high in calories, especially in the first two months of the life of chickens, so that small feathered pets grow faster and gain weight.

Chickens Malaysian Serama are characterized by mobility, increased activity, friendly disposition, cheerful and not at all aggressive character.
