The Cameroonian pygmy goat feeds on ordinary food. It includes tree branches, green fresh grass, hay, root crops. From mineral supplements, their diet should include a little table salt and chalk. Make sure that the animal always has access to a drinker with clean water.

You can get a Cameroonian dwarf goat on the farm. She will take root in any area. The exception would be areas with high humidity. It is worth considering before breeding this animal in marshy areas or polar regions.

Care of young animals

As soon as a new offspring has appeared, it is immediately weaned from its mother, fed with maternal colostrum. Until the kid is a month old, he needs to be fed, thus:

  • The goat should be offered food 4-5 times a day. From six in the morning to nine in the evening.
  • When the kid is 10 days old, he is offered hay in small quantities. Offer only the highest quality hay.
  • To prevent the development of white muscle disease in new offspring, goats are offered 5-6 grams of table salt every day.
  • When the kids are three weeks old, grain concentrates are added to their diet. This is crushed cake, bran, oats. 10 grams of chalk are added to these grain mixtures.
  • At three weeks of age, goats can already be offered fresh boiled oatmeal. Offer them also root vegetables that are finely chopped.

Kids and an adult Cameroonian dwarf goat do not know the sense of proportion in food. Therefore, part of caring for them is that it is important for the farmer to know the amount of animals in nutrition so as not to overfeed them.

Otherwise, with obesity, goats will be lazy to mate, females will become pregnant with weak offspring.
